Privacy policy
Effective 6 September 2026.
Your files
AirgapPDF is a static website. Every PDF tool (merge, split, rotate, compress, convert, OCR, and the rest) runs inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to AirgapPDF or to any third party. There is no server that could receive them. You can verify this in your browser's developer tools, or read the source code.
The one exception is Chat with PDF, which you opt into by entering your own Claude API key. The document you choose and your questions are sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's API under Anthropic's privacy policy. Your API key is kept in your browser's local storage so you do not have to re-enter it; it is never sent anywhere else.
Advertising
The site is free and supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and measure their performance, and may show personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Ads never have access to the files you process.
- Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and can decline.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
- How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Self-hosted copies of AirgapPDF contain no ads and make no requests to Google.
Hosting and libraries
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which may log request metadata such as IP address and user agent for security and reliability, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Open-source libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js, and others) are loaded from public CDNs (esm.sh, jsDelivr, SheetJS, and the Tesseract language-data CDN); those requests reveal your IP address to the CDN, as any website resource does, but never include your files.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-up, or email collection.
- No analytics scripts of our own, and no tracking of which files you process.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
